MCP / Windsurf

Connect Windsurf to Done Bear

Add the hosted server to Windsurf with the `serverUrl` key, refresh MCP, and sign in with OAuth. Cascade can then capture and complete Done Bear tasks.

MCP server endpoint

https://mcp.donebear.com/mcp

Connect Windsurf to Done Bear

  1. 1

    Open the Windsurf MCP config

    Open `~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json` or use Cascade's MCP settings.

  2. 2

    Add the server with serverUrl

    Add a `donebear` server with `serverUrl` set to https://mcp.donebear.com/mcp.

  3. 3

    Refresh and sign in

    Refresh the server list, then ask Cascade for your tasks. The first call opens an OAuth sign-in.

~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json (note: serverUrl, not url)

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "donebear": {
      "serverUrl": "https://mcp.donebear.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Know before you connect

  • Use the `serverUrl` key, not `url`; the wrong key is the top cause of a failed connection.
  • Remote MCP over OAuth needs a recent Windsurf version.

Connect securely

  • OAuth 2.1

    Sign in through your browser. Revoke it in Done Bear or by removing the Windsurf connector.

  • Read-only and write scopes

    Read-only access cannot create, edit, or complete tasks.

  • Scoped to your workspace

    The connector reaches Done Bear data, not other files on your machine.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Windsurf use serverUrl instead of url?

Windsurf expects `serverUrl` for remote HTTP servers. A config copied from Cursor with `url` will fail.

Where is the Windsurf MCP config file?

It lives at `~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json` and can also be opened from Cascade's MCP settings.
